Each team will determine an A player and a B
player. The A players will compete against each other for
2 points a hole (18 possible), and the B players will do the same
for another 18 possible points.
2 points will be awarded for team
combined low net, and 2 for team combined
low gross, for a total
of 40 possible points per team each week.
Team Low Net & Low Gross - Both players' scores are added together
to determine low net and low gross.
Handicaps are determined by using golf league software, and we have
input the following criteria:
80% of your score over par is your handicap. For example, if you
shoot a 46 (10 over par), your handicap will be 8 (80% of 10).
For those who played in the league last year, your year-end handicap
from last year may carry over to the first week this year.
The software will determine your handicap by using your last 5
rounds,
throwing out the high and the low. This will begin, of course, after
the 5th week.
Sub handicaps will be determined after the round, and will
be 50% of their score over par. Using the above 46
as an example, the sub's handicap would be 5 (50% of 10). We will
not track sub handicaps as the year progresses, even if they play numerous
times.
Substitutes
All players are responsible for getting their own subs. We do have
a suggested sub list of people that have volunteered, but you can choose
anyone to be your sub.
We ask that
all subs be at least 21 years of age. This is an adult league (although
it's hard to tell sometimes!!).
Since the original player has already paid for the round of golf,
the sub is not charged for the golf. We do request, however, a $5
donation from each sub per round (payable to Mike or Paul).
All money collected will go toward the cost of the year-end tournament.
Sub handicaps are determined as described above.
Forfeiture
If one team member does not show up for a round and has not gotten
a sub, the remaining member will play the match by himself against
the
other team. The 2 points for low net and low gross are automatically
awarded to the complete team. In addition, a forfeiture team penalty
of 3 points is assessed to the incomplete team.
If an entire team does not show up, the competing team is automatically
awarded 13 points. In addition, 1 point will be awarded to the
complete team for each stroke under par (team net, up to a maximum
of 20 total points).
Special Rules and Exceptions
We play by USGA rules at all times except where local rules supercede
USGA, and as noted below.
Winter rules - This league does not play that the ball must
be struck where it lies. A player is allowed to move their ball no
more than 6 inches no closer to the hole to improve their lie.
Lost Ball - A ball will be considered lost if it is not retrievable
from a course hazard or cannot be found within 5 minutes of the beginning
of a search by any member of the league. A new ball must be put into
play and dropped somewhere between the tee-box and the point at which
the ball was lost, no closer to the green. The player will then be
assessed a one stroke penalty. If a ball is found after the new ball
is put into play it may be picked up but cannot be used in place of
the new ball and the penalty stroke still applies.
Double Par +1 - To speed up play, the highest score allowed
on each hole is double par plus one. For example, on a par 4, the highest
score recorded will
be
a 9 (4+4+1=9). For scoring purposes, when a player has reached this
score on a hole, he has conceded the High Net score on that hole and
the point(s) is awarded to the other team.
OK, that's enough rules. We're out here to have fun, anyway, right?
Enjoy it, boys!
